In our previous blog, we highlighted the new regulations around sustainability reporting—most notably the CSRD and CSDDD. However, in February, the European Commission proposed a significant amendment called the ‘Omnibus Simplification Package’ to the reporting rules: one that would reduce the number of companies required to comply with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive by 80%.
Some of the major changes in the CSRD include:
- Postpone the application of reporting requirements for ‘wave 2’ and ‘wave 3’ companies by two years.
- Reduce the CSRD scope to large companies and parent companies of a large group with 1000 employees on average and either exceeding € 25 million total on a balance sheet or € 50 million turnover.
- Modify the sustainability reporting standards by i.a. substantially reducing the mandatory ESRS datapoints.
Due to these amendments, Connex was pushed from wave 2 to wave 3 of reporting companies, postponing our obligations for several years.
But here’s the bottom line: for us, nothing changes.
